Warring ethnic groups reach peace agreement in one Manipur district

Torrential rains kill hundreds across India

Even as the southern Indian state of Kerala is reeling in the aftermath of landslides where the death toll has now crossed 300, many regions in the north of the country have also been ravaged by heavy rains and flooding.

Officials are blaming the above average rainfall this month on the La Niña effect, which brings more rain to the subcontinent in the monsoon season.

UK PM Announces New Police Unit To Tackle Rioting Following Southport Stabbing Attack

The UK Prime Minister has announced a new national police unit to prevent violent disorder in the wake of violent protests, following the killing of three children in a stabbing attack on Monday in Northwest England.


Keir Starmer said a system of shared intelligence, facial recognition technology, preventative action, and criminal behaviour orders will help stop potential criminals before they can board a train.

Russia, West hold largest prisoner exchange since the Cold War

In the largest prisoner exchange since the Cold War, the US, Germany, Slovenia and Russia agreed to exchange 26 people. The prisoner swap took place in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. Moscow received 10 Russians accused of espionage and other criminal activities in the West. Two children were also reportedly involved in the exchange - they were the kids of the Russian couple convicted in Slovenia for espionage. West-Russia prisoner swap underway

Three American citizens are being released from detention today as part of the biggest prisoner swap between the West and Russia since the Cold War.


Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, US Marine veteran Paul Whelan, and Russian-American radio journalist Alsu Kurmasheva are being freed under a deal, mediated by Turkey and agreed by the Biden administration.

Teenage suspect to appear in court over Southport stabbings

A teenager has been charged with the murder of three girls at a dance class in Southport in the UK, and is appearing at  Liverpool City Magistrates’ Court [later Thursday], following a wave of far-right protests linked to the attack.

Eight other children and two adults were also in the Taylor Swift-themed dance class where the 17 year old suspect launched a vicious attack on Monday.
