That's because giant pandas will soon be returning to a major US zoo, a move that marks the latest chapter in China's history of bear-based diplomacy with the United States, despite tense political relations between the superpowers.
The two-year-old pair -- branded as "envoys of friendship" by Chinese President Xi Jinping -- will be housed at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington DC by the end of this year.
