UK PARTIES CLASH OVER TAX ON ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Both the Conservatives and Labour have ruled out increasing VAT sales tax if they win the general election.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt made the commitment while accusing Labour of planning to put up the tax.

Labour's Rachel Reeves immediately rejected the claims saying her party wants taxes on working people to be "lower, not higher".

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak insists the Conservatives are best placed to deliver economic prosperity.
