EU launches "Aspides" mission to protect global shipping in Red Sea


The European Union has launched a mission to protect global shipping in the Red Sea after recent attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

France, Italy and several other member states have confirmed their navies will deploy ships as part of the mission.

French farming unions hold further talks ahead of major agricultural show

The French president and the agriculture minister will meet representatives from the biggest farming unions on Tuesday for further talks over support measures for the sector after the recent protests.

The talks come just a few days before the upcoming French national agriculture convention, one of the biggest farming shows in the world.

Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi gets bail in a defamation case

Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been granted bail by a local court in a defamation case, months after a similar suit saw him temporarily lose his status as a Member of Parliament.

This defamation case has been filed against Gandhi by a leader from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party.

The opposition has accused Mr Modi's government of 'stifling' the freedom of speech in the country.

Petrol Tanker Drivers in Nigeria Begin Strike

INDUS-X Summit being held in New Delhi, aims to boost US-India defence collaboration

Hindu group wants big cat's name changed

Indian Farmers Reject Govt's Proposal after a Tense Standoff

Farmer unions in India have rejected a government proposal that offered them a floor price for some crops, saying they will start marching to New Delhi this week again unless a better offer is made.


The Indian government's proposal was made over the weekend in a bid to break a deadlock with the agitating farmers who have been protesting for a week now.

Two police officers and paramedic dead in Minnesota shooting

Two police officers and a paramedic have been killed and another officer injured in a shooting in the US state of Minnesota after responding to an incident at a family home.

The gunman, who was barricaded inside his Burnsville home with seven children, opened fire as officers tried to negotiate with him.

Some US truckers boycott NYC following Trump ruling

Donald Trump breaks silence on Navalny death, but omits Putin blame

Former US President Donald Trump has linked the death of Russia's imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny to his own legal woes, saying it made him "more aware of what's happening" in the United States.
