CHOLERA OUTBREAK CLOSES ZAMBIAN SCHOOLS

Zambia's Ministry of Education has closed primary and secondary schools in the country due to an ongoing cholera epidemic.

The students were meant to return next Monday but will resume on 29 January.

NYC sues bus companies over migrants row

New York is suing a number of bus companies it accuses of bringing
thousands of migrants to the city.

Mayor Eric Adams says the suit is intended to recoup some of the money
spent on caring for people that were bussed from the southern border.

"Multiple" victims reported at US high school shooting

Police have responded to a shooting at a high school in the US state
of Iowa, where there are reports that multiple people have been shot.

The police have declined to say how many people are injured - or if
there are any fatalities.

The shooter has been identified, police say - and there is no active
threat - but authorities have not provided further details on the
gunman's current condition.

America's top diplomat en route to Middle East for talks

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is headed to the Middle East for continued diplomatic discussions on the Israel-Gaza war. 


His trip to "a number" of countries, including Israel, comes as the Israeli army withdraws thousands of its troops from the Palestinian strip and shifts to lower-intensity military operations, following its ground offensive in the Hamas-run territory.   


But the conflict also shows signs of escalating to the wider region, with a suspected Israeli strike on a Hamas leader in Lebanon, twin Islamic State bombings in Iran, and with Iran-funded Houthi militants in Yemen attacking ships in the Red Sea.

San Francisco installs 'suicide nets' on Golden Gate Bridge

Vatican clarifies announcement on blessings for same sex couples

Sierra Leone charges ex-president Koroma with treason over coup attempt
