Russia thanks North Korea for Ukraine war support

CUE: Russia's defence minister has thanked North Korea for its support in the Ukraine war … or "special military operation" as the Kremlin calls the invasion.

The minister, Sergei Lavrov, is spending two days in Pyongyang, after visiting his Chinese counterpart in Beijing earlier this week.

Our reporter Andrew Wood in Hong Kong says North Korea and Russia have stayed allies even after the Cold War ended and the Soviet Union collapsed, But their relationship is very different.

Nigerian Police Raid Lagos Blacksmith's Illegal Gun Factory

The Nigerian police says it has busted a blacksmith's factory that was a cover for manufacturing illegal firearms in the commercial city of Lagos.


Barrel guns, pistols, cartridges and drilling machines were seized during the raid.

French court rules pro-Palestinian protests must be banned case by case

A French court has ruled that pro-Palestinian protests must now be

Biden secures Egyptian agreement to allow aid into Gaza

US President Joe Biden says he's secured an agreement to allow 20 trucks of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza from Egypt by the end of the week.


Aboard Air Force One returning to the US from Israel, he announced that he had secured the agreement of Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah border crossing. 


On Thursday night, he'll make a televised address to the American people.

Indian leaders express concerns over hospital bombing in Gaza

Joran van der Sloot admits to killing Natalee Holloway: judge

After nearly two decades of claiming his innocence, Joran van der Sloot has admitted to killing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway - who disappeared while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba in 2005.  A US federal judge says the confession came as part of a guilty plea he submitted Wednesday in a separate extortion case targeting the Holloway family - where he tried selling information on the location of her remains for $250,000. US House of Representatives in stasis after second Speaker election defeat

US Congressman Jim Jordan has failed for the second time to win enough votes to become Speaker of the House of Representatives, leaving the heart of American democracy in a state of paralysis. 


The hardline conservative Representative had bid to step into the vacant seat of power, left after the ousting of Kevin McCarthy weeks ago. 


But Jordan fell short again on Wednesday, with 22 of his own Republican Party colleagues voting against him.

UN Security Council rejects Gaza resolution

The United States has vetoed a United Nations resolution on escalations in Gaza.

The UN Security Council rejected a draft text put forward by Brazil calling for humanitarian pauses in fighting between Israel and Hamas.

This comes as US President Joe Biden held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and committed millions of dollars of aid to Palestinians.

Biden departs Israel promising support for Israelis and Palestinians

US President Joe Biden has left Israel after reaffirming support for
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and promising $100 million dollars
of aid for Palesinitians in Gaza.

He backed the Israeli claim that Palestinian militants were
responsible for the explosion at a Gaza hospital that killed an
estimated 500 people.

Biden also said that he had secured a commitment from Israel to allow
food and water in through the Gaza border crossing with Egypt.

Six French airports evacuated citing security threat
