Abortion pill case goes before conservative appeals court

The battle over access to the abortion pill in the US heads before an appeals court today (Wednesday). Three conservative judges will hear arguments on whether to uphold a Texas court's ruling to strip FDA approval for the drug mifepristone (MIF-A-PRIS-TONE), which is used in more than half of all abortions in the US. Harry & Meghan involved in "near catastrophic car chase”

Britain's Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and her mother were involved
in a "near catastrophic car chase" in New York City, according to his

Bike path attacker set to be handed life sentence

A man convicted of killing eight people on a crowded bike path in New
York is set to be formally sentenced to life in prison.

DIPLOMATS STILL DEBATING GRAIN DEAL AS THURSDAY RENEWAL DEADLINE APPROACHES

The last ship sailing under the protection of the Black Sea grain deal has left a Ukrainian port, as the deadline approaches for the agreement's renewal.

Diplomats took discussions online on Wednesday, and if needed could continue debating on Thursday, according to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkiye.

The Kremlin on Wednesday refused to speculate what the outcome might be. But it's been consistently pessimistic about the chance of renewal.

Former French president receives historic sentence

The former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has lost his appeal against his conviction for influence-peddling and corruption.

The decision means that his original sentence of three years in jail - with two years suspended - will stand, though the ex-president's legal team says they will launch a new appeal in the country's highest court.

G7 leaders set to pledge NPT boost

G7 leaders are set to pledge extra support for nuclear non-proliferation agreements when they meet in Japan this weekend. 

The G7 summit is taking place in Hiroshima, one of the only places to have experienced a nuclear attack, and Japan is hoping it will set the stage for discussions on nuclear disarmament.

US could agree debt deal by end of week

The US could have a debt ceiling deal by the end of the week,
according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

He was optimistic following a meeting at the White House with
President Joe Biden.

Biden's cabinet fears budget cuts threaten China strategy

Three senior cabinet members in US President Joe Biden's administration are warning that proposed budget cuts could undermine Washington's ability to compete with China.

New Mexico shooter was armed with three guns
