Imran Khan's arrest illegal, rules Pakistan's Supreme Court

Pakistan's Supreme Court has deemed Imran Khan's arrest illegal, ordering his immediate release.

Supporters of the former Prime Minister were seen celebrating across the country, with many saying justice has been delivered.

Eight people have died and thousands arrested in the violent protests that broke out soon after Imran Khan's arrest earlier this week.

EU SAYS IT'S FROZEN $26 BILLION FROM RUSSIAN INDIVIDUALS & COMPANIES

The European Union is holding on to around 26 billion US dollars worth of assets owned by Russian individuals and companies.

That's on top of the 330 billion US dollars of Russian Central Bank reserves also frozen by the EU.

While the European Commission representative made clear on Thursday that this money can't be legally confiscated -- he said the Commission is working on a proposal to criminalise sanctions circumvention.

US prepares for possible migrant surge as Title 42 expires

Bank of England raises rates to highest level since 2008

Museveni Meets Sudan Envoy

Welsh Nationalist Party Leader Resigns

The leader of the nationalist party in Wales has resigned after a damning report found evidence of a toxic culture within the organisation.


The review claims Plaid Cymru ((pron: Pl-eyed cum-ree)) leader Adam Price failed to enforce a "zero tolerance approach" to sexual harassment and misogyny.


The party is the third largest in the Welsh Parliament, and a successor is expected to be in place by the summer.

Bodies of 14 People Recovered After Nigerian Boat Accident

US inflation slowing but prices remain high

Inflation in the U.S. has slowed for the tenth month in a row, according to government figures released today.


But prices are still rising faster than policymakers would like despite more than a year of interest rate increases.


The consumer price index – which measures the cost of goods and services – shows that April inflation rose 4.9 percent from the same month last year. It was the lowest increase in two years.
