WH Smith profits more than double

British high street retailer WH Smith bounced back from a pandemic slump to more than double its profits over the past year. The stationery and books chain with hundreds of stores at airports and train stations will open more than 120 new branches worldwide over the next year, including 50 across North America. Meanwhile WH Smith's British business benefitted from the end of Covid restrictions. Pre-tax profits in the past six months rose above estimates from $22 million to $56 million. Rust filming to resume after deadly shooting on set

Report: Italian officials consider pulling out of BRI agreement with China


Italian officials have hinted they'd consider exiting a trade agreement with Beijing to make a deal with Taipei over semiconductors - that's according to a report from Bloomberg News.

In 2019, Italy signed a memorandum of understanding with China, becoming part of its Belt & Road Initiative or BRI.

UK student complaints hit new ceiling

University students in England and Wales have made a record number of complaints about their courses for the fourth year in a row. The Office of the Independent Adjudicator received 2,850 reports from unhappy students in 2022 - with Universities paying out more than £1 million in compensation.
