Protests in France turned violent on Thursday as police clashed with demonstrators and fires were started in the streets of Paris on the latest major day of action against the government's decision to raise the pension age.
The unions reported some 800-thousand people demonstrating in Paris alone, but president Emmanuel Macron said the reforms would go ahead as planned.

The CEO of one of the US's most popular apps, Tik Tok is defending the social media platform during intense questions from US lawmakers.
