The UK's energy watchdog, Ofgem, has suspended the installation of prepaid energy meters by utility companies, after an investigation found debt collectors breaking into homes to fit them.

RESEARCH: CANCER CASES AND DEATHS TO SOAR

The UK could be 'overwhelmed' by the 'sheer volume' of cancer diagnoses by 2040.

That's the warning from Cancer Research UK which estimates the number of people in Britain diagnosed will rise by a third in that time.

Cancer Research UK's chief clinician Charles Swanton says the government needs to start preparing immediately.

US defense officials say suspected Chinese spy balloon flying over US

US defense officials say they are tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon flying over the US. 

A Pentagon spokesperson said the balloon is traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and doesn't pose a threat.

Support, solidarity, but no shortcuts on membership at EU-Ukraine summit

Top European Union officials are in Kyiv for the first EU-Ukraine summit since Russia invaded last February.

The EU announced fresh support for Ukraine and says its humanitarian, military and financial assistance to Kyiv now totals around $55 billion US dollars.

But one item on Kyiv's wishlist likely won't be checked off any time soon: after Ukraine was granted EU candidate status last year, officials in the country have set their sights on joining the bloc within 2-3 years.

Iran accuses Israel of conducting drone attack

US Senator calls for Apple and Google to ban TikTok

The US Senator for Colorado is calling on Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores.


Senator Michael Bennet sent a letter to the CEOs of both companies on Thursday, citing concerns about how the social media platform handles users' data.


The Chinese-owned app is facing increasing scrutiny over whether data could be shared with authorities in Beijing.


TikTok says concerns are largely driven by 'misinformation' about the company.

Israeli prime minister makes official trip to Paris

The Israeli prime minister is making an official trip to Paris for talks with Emmanuel Macron, in what is Benjamin Netanyahu's first visit to France since he was re-elected as Israel's premier late last year.

Shell announces record-breaking profits for 2022


UK-based oil giant Shell has reported record-breaking profits for 2022.

BANK OF ENGLAND RAISES INTEREST RATE TO 4%

The Bank of England has raised interest rates to a 14 year high. The Bank's Monetary Policy Committee agreed a 50 basis point hike, taking the base rate to 4%.
