30 years since the demolition of the Babri mosque in India

Today marks 30 years since the demolition of the Babri mosque in India - an event that sparked widespread communal riots in the country that left at least 2000 people dead.

For years the land where the mosque stood was disputed - with both Hindus and Muslims claiming the land should be handed over to them.
