LABOUR WIN CHESTER BY-ELECTION

The UK's opposition Labour Party has retained the city of Chester in a by-election which was Rishi Sunak's first electoral test since becoming Prime Minister.

Samantha Dixon has been elected the new MP for the seat - with an increased majority.

It's the worst result in the constituency for the Conservatives in nearly two centuries.

The by-election was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Christian Matheson who was accused of serious sexual misconduct.

Samantha Dixon says voters have sent a clear message to the government.
