UN meeting accuses Russia of torturing Ukrainians in "filtration" camps

The United Nations has heard how Russia is using "filtration" centers
to detain, torture and sometimes make Ukrainian civilians, displaced
by conflict, disappear.

As many as 1.7 million people are thought to have been processed in
such camps - although Russia denies the accusations.

Stocks rally as rate hike concerns subside

New portraits of former President and First Lady Obama revealed

Barack Obama, former U.S. President, and his wife Michelle Obama returned to the White House on Wednesday as their official portraits were unveiled.

WFP grains from Ukraine arrive in Ethiopia

Intro 
23,000 metric tonnes of grain imported from Ukraine have arrived in Ethiopia . The ship from the Black Sea docked in Djibouti from where the grains were offloaded and transported to Ethiopia in 60 trucks .
This humanitarian consignment, the first to Africa  is as a result of a deal by Russia and IUkraine to allow for export of grains , that was brokered by the United Nations and Turkiye.

Canadian police expand search for stabbing suspect Myles Sanderson

Canadian police are expanding their search for the remaining suspect
in a deadly stabbing rampage over the weekend.

Ten people died, and 18 were injured in the province of Saskatchewan.

Police say 32-year-old Myles Sanderson has a long criminal record.

Steve Bannon faces fresh indictment

Steve Bannon is expected to hand himself in to prosecutors in New York

Texas State Troopers under investigation for Uvalde response

Five Texas state troopers face an investigation into their response to the May shooting at the Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, which left 19 children and two teachers dead.

The state's inspector general's office will determine if the officers violated any policies and whether they should face disciplinary action.

Law enforcement waited over an hour in a hallway outside the fated classrooms before taking down the gunman.

EU Commission proposes price cap on Russian gas

The European Commission has put forward plans to impose a price cap on Russian gas. Moscow has threatened to shut off supplies to the EU entirely if the measure comes into force. 


The proposal is part of a slew of measures aimed at tackling Europe's energy crisis.
