Pelosi lands in Taiwan
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives has landed in Taiwan, becoming the most senior US government figure to visit the island for 25 years.
She is spending the night there, and on Wednesday will meet President Tsai Ing Wen….images that are sure to irk Beijing, which has already issued forceful warnings about the consequences of her visit and conducted weekend military drills.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is one of many Biden administration officials insisting the Speaker's visit does not represent any shift in policy, and urging Beijing not to overreact.
