Guinea charges deposed leader Alpha Conde for alleged crimes.


Guinea has charged its former President, Alpha Conde for alleged crimes while in office. 26 other ministers during his rule are also expected to be prosecuted for other alleged crimes including assassinations and kidnapping.

Uganda Vaccinates DRC Refugees Against Cholera

Energy giant Shell announces record first quarter profits

Energy giant Shell has announced record first quarter profits of $9.1bn.


The firm, however, said pulling out of Russian oil and gas partnerships due to the war in Ukraine had cost it almost $4bn.

India is seeing an uptick in COVID infections

India is seeing another jump in the number of COVID cases. From recording around 2000 cases a day over the past week, the country is now reporting over 3000 fresh daily cases this week.

New Delhi accounted for at least 40% of the new infections logged in the past day, and health experts are concerned about another wave looming around the corner.

Russia promises Azovstal plant ceasefire

Russia has announced it will implement a three days ceasefire to allow
civilians to leave the besieged Azovstal plant in Mariupol.

US markets rally as Fed increases interest rate in bid to slow inflation
