US judge approves $626 million settlement for Flint water crisis victims

A US judge has given final approval of a $626 million settlement for people affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

Flint declared a state of emergency in 2015, after the Environmental Protection Agency said it had found dangerous levels of lead in the city's water.

Texas’ ban on mask mandates in schools overturned

A federal judge has blocked a ban on mask mandates in Texas schools, saying it violates the rights of students with disabilities.

In May, Republican Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order banning masks in state-funded institutions - including schools and universities -  kicking off a firestorm of disputes over mask-wearing policies, not just in Texas but across the U.S.

Covid cases rise 10% in Europe in first week of November

Coronavirus deaths in Europe rose 10 percent in the first week of this month, according to new figures from the World Health Organisation.
