Australia – Delta outbreak spreads to three states

Health officials have written an open letter to Australians in states with covid outbreaks, urging them to get either the Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccines as soon as possible.


The lockdown has been extended in New South Wales after 262 cases and five deaths in the last 24 hrs, Queensland has detected another 16 cases and Victoria is considering another lockdown after 8 new cases in the past 48 hrs.

Republican Governor of Florida hits back at Biden after Covid-19 criticism

The Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has hit back at the White House after President Biden accused him of standing "in the way" of live-saving measures to deal with Covid-19.


With Covid-19 cases spiking to record levels in Florida, the war of words between the Governor and the President intensified on Wednesday.


Governor DeSantis told supporters that he doesn't support mandates to force children in Florida to wear masks at school, or in other settings.

White House rejects WHO call for moratorium on booster shots

The White House is rejecting a call by the World Health Organization for a moratorium on Covid-19  booster vaccinations until more people in the developing world get their first chance to get jabbed.


The WHO says a pause in any planned booster campaigns should be introduced in order to address vaccine global inequities.


But White House press secretary Jen Psaki says the Biden administration disagrees.

Cuomo under criminal investigation following sexual harrassment report

New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo is now under criminal investigation in 4 separate jurisdictions including Manhattan.


He's still refusing to resign, despite the publication of a damning report about his sexual harassment of 11 women and calls by President Biden for him to quit.


One woman who claims the Governor retaliated against her for coming forward now says she'll launch a lawsuit against him.

British government drops quarantine requirements for travelers returning from France

The British government is removing extra restrictions that it p[laced on returning travelers from France.


The country now becomes just like any other nation on the so-called Amber List….British travelers returning will not be required to quarantine.


In other changes, India is moving off the red list and the government is adding Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway to its green list of approved destinations.

Health experts in the UK are expected to recommend Covid-19 jabs for all 16-17 years olds.


It's estimated that around 1.4 million teenagers would be added to the rollout if this went ahead.


Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi announced last month that only those 12 and over with underlying health issues would receive a jab.


This latest news is welcomed by Dr Chris Smith, a Consultant Virologist at the University of Cambridge, but says it should go further.
