With lockdown measures being implemented across Australia, the number of locally acquired covid cases continues to rise in the state of New South Wales.
In the past 24 hours, the states police have issued more than 200 warnings and 64 infringement notices for breaches of lockdown orders.

The United States is reported to be preparing sanctions on Chinese officials who it accuses of suppressing democracy in Hong Kong. The White House is also expected to issue a warning to international businesses operating in the city.

The Ethiopian government has rejected urgent appeals from aid organizations to airdrop food supplies into the northern region Tigray- this as troops across Ethiopia say they are ready to mobilize against Tigray.
The government has also blocked direct flights from outside Ethiopia to the region. The ongoing conflict has sparked a dire humanitarian crisis.

Travel firms have criticised the UK government's decision to move a number of summer holiday destinations to the amber travel list just two weeks after they were placed in a lower risk category.
