UK AND EU EXTEND GRACE PERIOD ON NORTHERN IRELAND TRADE

The UK and EU are extending a grace period on changes to trading rules between Britain and Northern Ireland, in a last-minute concession by the EU.

The changes would have created greater disparity between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, across the Irish Sea, which the UK felt was unacceptable.

In particular, transporting chilled meats like sausages from Britain into Northern Ireland would have become impossible - even though they're part of the same country.

LA County “strongly recommends” indoor masking

Los Angeles County is advising people to wear masks in indoor public spaces, regardless of their vaccination status.


The guidance comes with the highly transmissible Delta variants now accounting for almost half the county's coronavirus cases.

Ethiopia ceasefire in Tigray

Biden to visit scene of apartment collapse amid reports residents were warned of structural problems

President Biden says he's planning to visit the scene of last Thursday's apartment collapse in Florida later this week….possibly as early as Thursday.


The official death toll stands at 11 with more than 150 people still unaccounted for.


And there are fresh reports today that residents of the building were warned of structural problems that needed to be addressed.


The Wall St J and the NYT reporting that the homeowners' association warned residents at least 15 million dollars needed to be spent on repairs.
