Biden orders airstrikes in Iraq and Syria

The US has conducted airstrikes against facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in the Iraq - Syria border region.

The Pentagon said the action was ordered by US President Joe Biden in response to "attacks against U.S. personnel and facilities in Iraq."

Chavin Sentenced to 22 and a half years

The former police officer convicted of murder in the death of George Floyd has been sentenced to 22 and half years in prison. 

This case set off waves of protest across the globe over police abuse of Black people.

Chauvin sentenced to 22.5 years for murder of George Floyd

Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 and a half years behind bars, for the 2020 murder of George Floyd.

The sentence is more than the state of Minnesota’s minimum guidelines but less than the 30 years prosecutors had hoped for.

Chauvin sentencing underway

Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin's sentencing hearing for the murder of African American George Floyd is underway.

Prosecutors are seeking a 30 year sentence, while his defense team want probation and time served.


Chauvin was convicted of multiple charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Update: Miami building collapse

At least 159 people are still missing after an apartment building partially collapsed in Surfside, Florida, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Search and rescue crews are working round the clock with dogs and drones in search of any signs of life.


At least four people have died, amid mounting anger over why the 40-year-old building collapsed.

Kamala Harris at US-Mexico border facing heavy criticism
