Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin's sentencing hearing for the murder of African American George Floyd is underway.
Prosecutors are seeking a 30 year sentence, while his defense team want probation and time served.
Chauvin was convicted of multiple charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Minnesota Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank- emotional at times- said Chauvin, who pressed his knee on George Floyd’s neck until he could no longer breathe- said it was time for his family to get justice.
