MLADIC LOSES UN GENOCIDE APPEAL

Judges for the United Nations have upheld a genocide conviction against Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic.

He was handed a life sentence in 2017 for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes during Bosnia's civil war in the mid nineties.

Former UK Met police officer pleads guilty to kidnap and rape of 33-year-old woman

A former UK met police officer has pleaded guilty to the rape and kidnap of Sarah Everard.

 

Ms Everard went missing as she walked home from a friend's in South London on March 3.

 

The 33-year-old's body was discovered in a wooded area in Kent after a week of intensive searches.

Cloud computing problems downs number of major websites

A number of major websites including Reddit, Amazon and CNN went down
for around an hour earlier on Tuesday.

More than 800 arrested in encrypted messaging sting

More than 800 suspected criminals have been arrested worldwide after being tricked into using an FBI-run encrypted messaging app. 

The sting has led to the arrest of suspects from organised crime groups in 18 countries, including Australia, Asia and South America. 

The operation was coordinated by Europol - the EU's police agency - who described it as the "biggest ever law enforcement operation against encrypted communication."

UNICEF CALLS FOR STEADY SUPPLY OF VACCINES

Covid-19 vaccines will be wasted in their millions if donated to poorer countries in one go.

That's the warning from children's charity UNICEF which says rich nations should donate 20% of their vaccine supplies by August.

But UNICEF says doses need to be provided with a steady supply because developing economies don't have the resources to use large numbers rapidly.

US Justice Department recovers most of the ransom paid to pipeline hackers

America's Justice Department says it's recovered most of the ransom paid to Russian hackers by the owners of a US petroleum pipeline.

Jeff Bezos announces he'll be on his own rocket's first crewed space flight

UK gvt minister questions decision to ban England cricketer for 'racist' comments

The UK's Culture and Sport Secretary, Oliver Dowden, says English cricket's ruling body has gone "over the top" in suspending cricketer Ollie Robinson for racist and sexist remarks he tweeted almost a decade ago.


Mr Dowden tweeted himself that whilst the posts were "offensive and wrong," the England and Wales Cricket Board should "think again" about the decision.
