US Slaps Sanction on Ethiopia

Intro

The United States has imposed sanctions on Ethiopia following the continued fighting in the Northern region, Tigray.

It says parties to the conflict have not made a meaningful effort to end hostilities in the region or engage in peaceful resolution.

The Government of Prime minister Abiy Ahmed launched a military operation in the Tigray region in November 2020, against forces loyal to Tigray People Liberation Front. Six months later a conflict continues, and a major humanitarian crisis is affecting over 4 million people in the area.
