UGANDA TO RECEIVE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINE



INTRO

The African Union has upped its distribution of Johnson and Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine across the continent, four days after putting the purchasing of more Astra Zeneca shots on hold, over supply concerns.

Uganda is expecting four million doses of the some 220 million J & J doses which will be manufactured by the Aspen pharmaceutical company based in South Africa.

BIGGEST SURGE TESTING OPERATION TO DATE UNDERWAY IN LONDON

Surge testing is underway in parts of London after a sudden increase in the number of people testing positive for the Covid-19 variant first detected in South Africa. ALL OVER 50s OFFERED VACCINE IN UK

The UK government's offered all over-50s and the most vulnerable a Covid-19 vaccine first dose.

The milestone comes several days before the April 15th target and means those in their 40s are now being offered a jab.

The Moderna vaccine is also now being rolled out in England.

However, surge testing is being implemented in parts of South London where a cluster of cases of the South Africa-discovered variant has been discovered.

US protests continue over Duante Wright killing

Protesters have defied a curfew in Minnesota to protest for a second

Taiwan Reports Largest Chinese Aircraft Incursion to Date

Taiwan's government says twenty five Chinese military aircraft entered the island's air defence identification zone on Monday.

The incursion, which included fighters as well as nuclear-capable bombers, was the largest reported to date.

UKRAINE & US FOREIGN MINISTERS HEAD TO NATO HQ

Tanzania and Uganda finally sign the final agreement in the EAST AFRICA CRUDE oil pipeline deal.

President Yoweri Museveni has called the signing of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline between Tanzania and Uganda a victory for the two countries. The high-level signing ceremony was attended by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and the French oil giant, Total SA's chief executive, Patrick Pouyanne.

Zuma instructed to suggest an appropriate punishment

South Africa’s Constitutional Court wants former president Jacob Zuma to propose and motivate what punishment he should face, if found to be in contempt of court. The Zondo Commission of Inquiry is asking that a two-year prison sentence be handed down to Zuma, who defied a Constitutional Court order to appear before the commission in February.
