US Senate leader optimistic Covid-19 stimulus bill will pass

US Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer says Democrats have enough
support to pass the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill.

The White House is trying to get the stimulus package approved before
March 14th, the date 11 million Americans lose unemployment benefits.

Hong Kong authorities investigate death following Sinovac vaccine

Hong Kong's health authorities are investigating the death of a 63 year old man, two days after he received China's Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine. 

Authorities say the man had a history of respiratory disease, and that it's too early to say if his death is connected to the jab.

Australia – Rio Tinto chair will stand down following destruction of ancient caves

The Chairman of mining Giant Rio Tinto Simon Thompson says he will stand down over the destruction of the Juukan (Jookan) Gorge caves.


The company destroyed the 46,000 year old caves in Western Australia's Pilbara (Pilbruh) region last year, against the specific wishes of the areas traditional owners.

Search for unknown P.1. coronavirus variant carrier in England tracked to 379 homes in South East

The UK search for a missing person infected with the P.1. coronavirus variant first detected in Brazil has narrowed to 379 households in the South East of England.

Uganda Set to Receive COVID-19 Vaccines from COVAX

France reverses stance on AstraZeneca vaccine for over-65s

The over-65s will now be able to have the AstraZeneca vaccine in France.

It's a change in stance on the issue - French president Emmanuel Macron said in January that the vaccine was "quasi-ineffective" for older age groups.

The French government had previously warned that the Anglo-Swedish company's vaccine may not be as safe and effective as other jabs - a viewpoint it has now clarified as more data has emerged.
