AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL REVOKES NAVALNY “PRISONER OF CONSCIENCE” LABEL

Amnesty International has revoked Alexey Navalny's "prisoner of conscience" status due to comments he made in the past.

In a statement, the human rights organisation said the Russian opposition figure's remarks from the mid-2000s "reach the threshold of hate speech, which contradicts Amnesty's definition of a prisoner of conscience."

10 killed, 60 injured by Boko Haram attack in Nigeria


At least 10 persons have been killed and many more injured from a Boko Haram attack in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

Concerns mount over spike in Covid-19 cases in two Indian states

Concerns are growing about the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases in two states in India, which account for the majority of the country's confirmed active infections.

Out of some 13,700 Covid-19 infections recorded in the past 24 hours, three quarters of these were in the states of Maharashtra and Kerala.

Doctors are linking the spike to new variants, but the government has said that there is insufficient scientific evidence to support the theory.

Australia – Tensions thaw as Facebook begins restoring news pages

U.S. stocks make a slight comeback reversing earlier losses
