Prime Minister Defends COVID Tier System For England

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has defended his plan to try and limit the spread of Coronavirus in England.


A tier system of differing restrictions will be introduced next week when a national lockdown ends.


But a group of MPs from his own party have threatened to vote against the measures.

Navalny urges EU to target Russian oligarchs with sanctions, not the army colonels responsible for his poisoning

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has urged the European Union to target oligarchs in Russia with sanctions, rather than the army generals deemed responsible for his poisoning. 

The Putin critic was targeted in a novichok attack in late August, and was later treated at a hospital in Germany. 

Mr Navalny made the comments in an address to the European Parliament.

African Union special envoys in Ethiopia

Brexit negotiations continue as talks enter into final few weeks of transition period

Face-to-face Brexit trade talks are resuming in London this weekend, with a little over a month left before the deadline. 


In-person negotiations were suspended last week when the EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier had to self-isolate after a colleague tested positive for Covid-19.

French police suspended after video shows them beating up black man

French president Macron says he is "more than shocked" by a video that shows a black man being beaten up by three police officers after he went out in public not wearing a face mask.

The police officers involved in the incident have been suspended pending investigation.

UK GOVT UNDER PRESSURE OVER COVID TIERS

Dozens of Conservative MPs are reportedly considering voting against the UK government's new tiered regional covid-19 restrictions.

Most of England will move into the toughest tiers when a national lockdown ends on December 2nd.

But many Conservatives think their constituencies have been unfairly categorised and are calling for more evidence.

The government may have to rely on opposition support to pass the measures through Parliament next week.

RUSSIA ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR VACCINE ROLLOUT

Russia says its mass vaccination programme will begin before the end of the year, in a phased process.

President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, says their priority is getting the vaccine to those who want it "as soon as possible", but stresses the programme will be voluntary.

Although clinical trials remain ongoing, Sputnik V was the first Covid-19 vaccine in the world to be registered for use.

KREMLIN SAYS IT’S NOT REFUSING TO ACCEPT BIDEN WIN

The press secretary of Russian president Vladimir Putin, says Russia will congratulate US president-elect Joe Biden on his win, once the vote becomes official.

ENGLAND TO FIND OUT REGIONAL COVID TIERS

Regions of England will find out later what covid-19 tiers they'll be placed into when national lockdown ends on December 2nd.

Swathes of the country will be placed into Tier 3 restrictions, which include bars and restaurants being closed except for takeaway.

Uganda Imports Bengal Tigers From South Africa

Nigeria records lowest terrorism violence in eight years



Nigeria has recorded its lowest violence caused by terrorism in eight years. This is according to the latest report by the Global Terrorism Index.
