India crosses 6.9 million COVID 19 cases

India added over 78,000 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's total caseload to over 6.9 million.

India recorded 964 deaths in the past day, pushing the death toll above 106,000 fatalities.

Russia registers record daily COVID-19 cases

UK ECONOMY GROWS, BUT SLOWER THAN EXPECTED

The UK economy grew 2.1% in August according to the latest figures.

That's weaker growth than expected, and a significant slowing compared to June and July.

It comes as the UK government considers tightening restrictions on swathes of the country with confirmed coronavirus cases increasing rapidly.

It could see pubs and restaurants closed in some areas.
