REPORT CLAIMS RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN SCOTLAND REFERENDUM

A UK report has found Russia did attempt to influence the result of Scotland's 2014 independence referendum.

But it also claims the UK government 'actively avoided' trying to find evidence of interference in the 2016 Brexit vote.

The long-delayed report from the Intelligence and Security Committee says ministers have badly underestimated the response required to the Russian threat - and are still playing "catch up."

Russia denies trying to meddle in any countries' electoral process.

Commitee member - SNP MP Stuart Hosie - says lessons should have been learnt ahead of the Brexit referendum.
