Violence in U.S. intensifies after Trump threatens to use military on protestors

U.S. nationwide protests escalated overnight, erupting in violence following a threat by President Trump to unleash the military, declaring himself the president of law and order.

Police officers were targeted despite curfews in scores of U.S. cities, while protests were broken up with tear gas and rubber bullets.

There was widespread looting, and scenes of chaos, as international outrage is growing.

No end to India-China border stand-off

Nearly a month since Indo-China border stand-off started, talks have failed to make any head-way and troops remain engaged along the shared border in Ladakh.

Indian and Chinese troops were allegedly involved in fistfights and stone pelting on two occasions in May. China claims New Delhi illegally constructed border infrastructure on its territory- while India's accused Beijing of disrupting its patrols in the region.

Australia's Queensland government has now apologised to the family of a man who was incorrectly identified last week as having died of Covid-19.

Mumbai braces for Cyclone Nisarga

Mumbai is bracing for Cyclone Nisarga, which is expected to make landfall on Wednesday.

This will be the second cyclone to hit India in just a couple of weeks, after Cyclone Amphan (Pron: UM-PUN) hit the country's east coast and Bangladesh last month, claiming dozens of lives.

PROTESTS CONTINUE OVERNIGHT IN US CITIES

Clashes between protestors and police have continued through the night in several US cities - despite a threat from President Trump to send in the military.

It was the first time he'd spoken to address the demonstrations that were sparked by the death of African American George Floyd who died in police custody in Minneapolis.

Dozens of cities had curfews in place overnight but demonstrations continued.

Bars and restaurants are re-opening in France as the country continues to ease out of the lockdown imposed to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Gains on Wall Street despite protests

The U.S. markets closed the day in positive territory despite protests
across the United States.

to slowly rebound.
