WHO temporarily suspends hydroxychloroquine trial citing safety concerns

GERMAN COURT DEALS ANOTHER BLOW TO VOLKSWAGEN OVER DIESELGATE

Madrid and Barcelona emerge from lockdown in Spain

A number of European countries are taking steps to further loosen lockdowns from Monday. 

Spain has reopened its biggest cities, Madrid and Barcelona two weeks after the rest of the country.

Lucy Hough has more from Brussels. 

While the rest of the country began to reopen a fortnight ago, Madrid and barcelona were kept under stricter lockdown restrictions due to higher COVID19 risk 

But from Monday, Residents can now gather in groups of up to ten, at home or on the terraces of bars and restaurants and major parks were reopened

Greece has also restarted regular ferry services to the islands, while restaurants and bars were also back open for business as the country accelerated efforts to salvage its tourism season.

France has announced reciprocal mandatory 14-day quarantine for UK travellers from June 8th, mirroring the UK's announcement.

Testing suggests 12.5% of Moscow has COVID-19 immunity

Testing in Moscow suggests that more than one in ten people have antibodies to the coronavirus, meaning they have already had the disease. The head of the city's department of health suggested the number may be high enough to begin moving out of lockdown - even though new cases are rising by thousands each day. Uncertainty over school reopening in UK -- but risk to children far lower

The British government's scientific advisory group, known as SAGE, say children are almost 60% less likely to get coronavirus compared to an adult if they were in contact with an infected individual. 


The group published documents assessing whether students should return to school, but the scientists "cannot be clear" on the extent to which they could be reopened without leading to cases taking off in the UK again.
