ROLLS ROYCE TO CUT THOUSANDS OF JOBS

The aircraft engine maker, Rolls-Royce, is cutting 9000 jobs due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Most of the job losses are likely to be at its Derby factory in England - and mostly from its civil aerospace division.

Nigeria to prosecute pirates under new anti-piracy law



Nigeria is set to prosecute the first set of pirates arrested on its waters in line with a new anti-piracy law. President Muhammadu Buhari signed the law to improve security in Nigerian waters in June last year.

Legal process against Rwanda genocide suspect continues in France

Felicien Kabuga, who was one of world's most-wanted fugitives, is due before a court in Paris on Wednesday as legal proceedings get under way after he was arrested four days ago.

The 84-year-old has been indicted on seven counts of genocide for his alleged role in the mass killings in Rwanda in 1994.

Trump Administration awards $354 million contract to produce medicines in the US

The Trump administration has given a $354 million dollar contract to a company in Virginia in a bid to reduce the US's reliance on other nations for its pharmaceuticals.

It's an issue President Trump has increasingly raised since the coronavirus outbreak.

Franco-German COVID19 recovery fund meets opposition from northern EU countries

Austria, Denmark and The Netherlands have pushed back against a Franco-German plan for a recovery fund worth worth €500 billion ($543.7 billion), during a teleconference of finance ministers on Tuesday.

HUGE RISE IN BENEFIT CLAIMS & JOBLESS IN UK

The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in the UK surged by a record 856,000 in April, the first full month of the coronavirus lockdown.
