House approves $484bn funding for Small Businesses, Hospitals and Testing

The House has passed a $484 billion dollar stimulus package which will provide funds for small businesses hospitals and testing infrastructure.

It means the total amount of government aid is now almost 3 trillion dollars.

EU leaders agree aid package for member states but more detail to be finalised by May 6th

EU leaders met for a critical video summit on Thursday to discuss how to fund a the bloc's economic recovery from COVID-19, with deep divisions between countries in the north and south.

The finance ministers' package agreed two weeks ago included €240 billion in loans from the European Stability Mechanism for countries to fund their health care systems.

EU leaders are now looking ahead to the long-term budget to rescue economies crippled by the pandemic, with the Commission due to produce proposals for how it will be funded by May 6th.

U.S. markets up despite jobless claims jump

It was a mixed close for the U.S. markets Thursday
after the release of data showing a further 4.4 million filed for
unemployment benefits last week.

A record 26 million Americans have now claimed unemployment benefits
over the past five weeks.

Merkel urges patience and discipline as country eases lockdown

France medical body calls for compulsory face masks for public

Total Acquires Tullow Entire Interests in Uganda Oil

UK PM BACK AT WORK 'SOON'

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson should be back at work 'soon', according to one of his colleagues.

There's still no date for his full return to Prime Ministerial duties, however, after his period in intensive care with coronavirus.
