EU leaders met for a critical video summit on Thursday to discuss how to fund a the bloc's economic recovery from COVID-19, with deep divisions between countries in the north and south.
The finance ministers' package agreed two weeks ago included €240 billion in loans from the European Stability Mechanism for countries to fund their health care systems.
EU leaders are now looking ahead to the long-term budget to rescue economies crippled by the pandemic, with the Commission due to produce proposals for how it will be funded by May 6th.
