Trump wants US open by Easter

US President Donald Trump says he wants America and its economy open
and "raring to go" by Easter, on April 12th, in three weeks time.

In an interview on Fox News he expressed annoyance that he had to
"close the country" to slow the spread of coronavirus.

NY Governor makes furious plea for more ventilators

The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has made an emotional to President Trump to provide the state with an additional 30 thousand ventilators to deal with the coronavirus crisis.


He says that so far he's received only 400 of them.

US car companies make urgent medical supplies

US carmaker Ford is working with General Electric to make urgent

2020 OLYMPICS POSTPONED

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are being postponed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

They were due to start on 24th July, and it's the first time the Games have ever been postponed.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says the International Olympic Committee has agreed to the one year delay.

Gail Emms, who won an Olympic silver medal in Badminton in 2004, says it will be incredibly complicated.

U.S. could become Covid-19 epicenter

The World Health Organizations warns that the U.S. could become the
epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As of Monday over 42,000 people had been infected in the country with

Italy warns true coronavirus number could be 10 times higher than official figures

Europe continues to adjust to life under lockdown, as the death toll in Spain begins to surpass that of Italy.

Spain has reported 514 in a single day, with 6000 new infections. 

Italy's civil protection agency says the country may 10 times more cases of coronavirus than officially recorded.

Russia to track infected patients

Russia's Prime Minister has ordered his teams to develop a system of tracking infected patients using their mobile phone data. It would send a message to people who had been in contact with someone with the coronavirus. Lucy Taylor reports.

PM Modi to address the nation after number of detected cases rise to more than 400

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation as cases of coronavirus infections continue to rise.

UK IN LOCKDOWN

The UK is in its first full day of an effective lockdown to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the move in a national address.

Uganda Confirms Eight New Cases of COVID-19

Uganda has confirmed  eight new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of  cases in the country to nine.


The Ministry of Health says all the nine cases are all imported and came into the country from Dubai.

Moon to double aid package for struggling businesses

Trump considers reopening US economy even as Coronavirus death toll rises

Even as the Coronavirus continues to spread rapidly throughout the United States and the death toll rises, President Donald Trump is considering how to reopen the American economy as early as next week.

PG&E to Plead Guilty

The California utility Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation will accept criminal responsibility for starting the deadliest wildfire in California history.

Germany and Greece joins ranks of EU countries under lockdown

Germany and Greece have joined a number of European countries imposing nationwide lockdowns to contain the spread of coronavirus.
