Trump Commutes Blagojevich Sentence

President Trump has commuted the prison sentence of  former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat who was impeached and removed from office for corruption….  The President has also pardoned three white collar criminals.

Boy Scouts of America files for bankruptcy

The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy as it deals with a wave of lawsuits over allegations of sexual abuse.

Bankruptcy will enable the Scouts to put those lawsuits on hold for now in the hope of working out a potentially enormous victim compensation plan that will allow the  organisation to carry on.

Tanzania’s Standard Gauge Railway on track after the govt secures $1.46b for phase two of the project.

Standard Chartered Bank in Tanzania acted as the deal co-ordinator pulling together funds from global lenders which provided 1.46 billion dollars.

HSBC ANNOUNCE JOB LOSSES

HSBC, one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, says it's axing around 35,000 jobs as it announced profits for 2019 fell by about a third.


The bank will now target $4.5bn of cost cuts by 2022 as part of a major restructuring.

Boko Haram attacks community, reportedly destroy phone masts
