Hungarians say human rights EU top value: survey

According to a new survey, nearly 50 percent of Hungarians believe human rights is the European Union's most important value. The Eurobarometer survey comes as EU leaders and rights advocates criticize Hungary's government for failing to uphold democratic values.

EU envoy questions India's actions in Kashmir

Pompeo and Lavrov Clash at Press Conference

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Russia's Foreign Minister  Sergei Lavrov clashed publicly in a joint press conference after meeting behind closed doors at the State Department. 

The exchange happened just before Lavrov's scheduled meeting with President Trump at the White House… where the three leaders were to speak about a wide range of issues including arms control,  Ukraine, the war in Syria,  and Venezuela..

One Officer, Multiple Others Killed in New Jersey ‘Ambush’


Two separate shooting incidents were underway in New Jersey Tuesday,  leaving at least one police officer dead, and several others injured.

US Secretary of State warns Russia against interfering in US affairs

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov have held talks in Washington, with the top US diplomat warning his Russian counterpart that meddling in US affairs is "unacceptable".

At a meeting also attended by US president Donald Trump, the two foreign ministers said an important announcement on US-Russian economic co-operation would be made soon.

Deal reached on North American free trade deal

Mexico's President has announced that his country has reached a deal
with the U.S. and Canada on a free trade agreement.

The measure still needs to be approved by Canadian and U.S. lawmakers

Man sentenced to life in prison for 2017 St Petersburg metro bombing

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for organising the 2017 bombing on the St Petersburg metro that left 15 people dead.

The court also sentenced ten others to jail terms between 19 and 28 years for the attack.

Hike in the price of onions leading to thefts across India

The price of onions – a staple ingredient in Indian kitchens -- has increased to just over $2 per kilogram.

Less than three weeks ago, they were retailing at under 30 cents.

Untimely and prolonged rainfall has damaged crop this year leading to a severe shortage of onions concerns about further food inflation.

UK economic growth slowest in nearly seven years

The UK economy grew at its slowest annual pace in nearly seven years in October, according to Britain's main statistics body. 


The Office for National Statistics says the country's GDP rose, but only by 0.7% against the same period last year.

Gunman on run in Czech Republic after shooting at hospital

Police in the Czech Republic are searching for the suspect in a mass-shooting at a hospital in the eastern part of the country. Police say the man killed at least six people when he opened fire at the hospital in Ostrava.

'The Lady' heads to The Hague

Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader of Myanmar and Nobel Peace Prize recipient is in the Hague to defend Myanmar at a genocide hearing at the International Court of Juctice.
