US Considering Retaliatory Tariffs on French Imports

The US government says it is considering tariffs on more than 2 billion dollars worth of French exports. 

The tariffs would be in retaliation for France's new digital services tax.

Trump campaign bars Bloomberg News from events


U.S. President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign says it won't give press credentials to Bloomberg News for campaign events.

The news organisation's billionaire owner, Michael Bloomberg, recently announced he's running for the Democratic nomination for next year's presidential election.

UN Secretary General Issues Dire Warning as COP25 Kicks off in Madrid

The UN Chief issued a stark warning just as a two-week climate summit kicked off Monday in Madrid.  Secretary General Antonio Guterres asked the global community whether they would like to be remembered as the generation that buried its head in the sand as the planet burned.  The 25th Conference of the Parties comes as nations are being urged to cut carbon emissions five-fold in the race to fight climate change.

Tanzania Authorities Ban Heartburn Medications Over Cancer Risk

Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) says the drugs which use trade names such as Raniplex 150 mg, Rantac 500 mg/mL and Aciloc 150 mg, which were allowed to be used in Tanzania, contain an impurity that can cause cancer.

VW drivers launch 'dieselgate' case in UK

Donald Trump set to arrive at two-day NATO summit in London

The US President Donald Trump will be arriving in London on Monday evening for two days of meetings with NATO leaders, as the alliance marks its 70th year. 

Mr Trump will meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, before joining world leaders in Watford the following day. 

The visit comes ten days before the UK goes to the polls in a winter general election.

Nineteen people have been killed in bus crash in the Far East region of Russia.

At least 20 others were injured when the vehicle skidded off a bridge and plunged onto a frozen river on Sunday.

Five people killed in flooding in the south of France

Two people have drowned and three rescuers been killed in a helicopter crash after flash flooding in the south of France.

An urgent review's underway in the UK into the licence conditions of convicted terrorists released before the end of their sentences.

It comes after Friday's attack on London Bridge which killed two people.

The attacker, Usman Khan, was released from prison early in 2018 after serving half his sentence for plotting a terrorist attack.

$400bn gas pipeline opened between Russia and China

A $400bn gas pipeline known as the 'Power of Siberia' is being officially launched on Monday between Russia and China.

White House won’t take part in House Judiciary impeachment hearing
