Vodafone India pleads for financial relief

Vodafone India is seeking financial relief from the government.

The company reported a massive loss late Thursday, and warns it could face collapse without support.

The UK opposition Labour Party is promising free high speed broadband for all in a major election pledge.

Labour says every home and business in Britain will get full-fibre internet by 2030.

It says it will achieve this at a cost of £20bn ($25bn) and with the part-nationalisation of telecoms firm BT.

Labour also plans a tax on tech giants to pay for the project.

The party's rivals say the plan is unaffordable and unworkable.

Senators work to pass Hong Kong legislation

Two U.S. senators have begun a process to quickly pass a Hong Kong rights bill.

Senators Jim Risch and Marco Rubio want to pass the Hong Kong Human
Rights and Democracy Act by a unanimous voice vote.

Rubio says the measure would send a clear message but Beijing warns
that some U.S. have sinister intentions and urge Washington not to
interfere.

Hong Kong has seen months of protests and pro-democracy demonstrators
have paralyzed parts of the city for the past several days.

Students die in US school mass shooting

At least two students have died and 3 others injured in a mass
shooting at a high school in California.

The suspect, a 16-year-old pupil at the school, also shot himself and
is in a "grave condition".

WHO launches programme to lower insulin prices

Seventeen arrested in human trafficking raids in London

Seventeen people have been arrested in raids across east London in an international human trafficking investigation.


A total of 29 women, aged 20 to 40, were rescued by the police. The potential victims were taken to a place of safety, whilst the suspects remain in custody.

Russia rejects link to MH17 crash

The Russian Foreign Ministry has dismissed claims by investigators probing the MH17 crash linking Moscow to the downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight.

MH17 was shot down in 2014 over territory held by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. All 298 passengers and crew died.

Larger bench at India's top court to look at objections in Sabarimala temple debate

India's Supreme Court has referred objections raised to its controversial verdict last year to allow women of all ages to enter a famous temple in Kerala to a larger bench of judges.
