LABOUR, CONSERVATIVES SPAR OVER BREXIT PLANS

The opposition Labour Party is setting out its Brexit strategy ahead of a general election next month.

It says it would negotiate a new Brexit deal with Brussels including a customs union with the EU.

It would then hold a referendum offering that deal or Remain as the options.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's accusing Labour of offering more 'dither and delay' over Brexit.

It's a key campaign issue ahead of the UK election on December 12th.

Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer says Labour's position is clear.

Calls for Disease Free Region at SADC Health Meeting

Senior Officials from the Ministries of Health, HIV and AIDS in the Southern African Development Cooperation region are meeting for a second day in Dar es Salaam ahead of a Ministers meeting on the 7th and 8th November 2019.


Officials in the meeting have called for more efforts to make the SADC region disease-free.

Nigeria’s first ever Oscars entry disqualified



Nigeria's first Oscars entry,'Lion Heart', has been disqualified from the race for the 'Best International Feature Film' category.

The Academy said the movie, was disqualified because it violates the rule that entries in the category must have "a predominantly non-English dialogue track."

India opts out of Asia trade agreement

India has decided against joining an Asia trade agreement which could be the world's biggest trade pact.

15 countries have agreed the terms to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, but the pact faced stiff opposition from several groups of people in India.

Trump will seek Supreme Court ruling in bid to keep tax returns private

President Trump will now ask the US Supreme Court to shield his tax returns from public view.


The move came after a lower court ruled that he must hand them over to the Manhattan District Attorney who is leading an investigation of the President's business.

UK terrorism threat level downgraded

The UK's terrorism threat level has been downgraded from "severe" to "substantial." It is now at its lowest since August 2014.

 

But Home Secretary Priti Patel says the UK is still at "a high level of threat" and an attack could "occur without further warning."

Trump asks Supreme Court to review tax returns case

Storm Amélie cuts power to tens of thousands in south west France
