Amnesty Report Accuses HK Police of Alarming Pattern of Violence

An investigation by human rights group Amnesty International has warned of an alarming pattern of violence used by police in Hong Kong since the start of a crisis there three months ago.

It said, among it's findings, that the force had resorted to retaliatory force and had tortured and mistreated protesters before and even after arrest.

UK SUPREME COURT HEARINGS ON PARLIAMENT CONCLUDE

The UK's Supreme Court has concluded three days of hearings into whether Boris Johnson's suspension of Parliament was 'unlawful'.

GHANA CUTS COCOA PROJECTION FOR 2019/2020 CROP SEASON

Ghana has cut down its projections for the sale of its cash crop, Cocoa for the 2019/2020 season by ten thousand metric tonnes. 

The country had projected to sell about nine hundred and fifty thousand metric tonnes of its cocoa beans on the market this season but has failed to meet that target. 

It follows the destruction of many cocoa farms by the swollen-shoot virus disease in the Western part of the country – where most of its cocoa is derived.

Xenophobic Attacks: Another batch of Nigerians return from South Africa

A second batch of Nigerians who requested to leave South Africa as a result of xenophobic attacks have returned to their country. 

The repatriation comes as a response to xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa during which properties and businesses belonging to Nigerians were destroyed.

Russian Guard asked to check police actions during arrest of actor at protest

Activists in Moscow have asked the head of the Russian Guard to order an internal investigation after actor Pavel Ustinov complained he was beaten up while he was detained during an unsanctioned protest in Moscow on August 3rd.

Uganda Signs Nuclear Deal with Russia
