India lifted 271 million people out of poverty, UN says

More than 270 million in India have been lifted out of poverty, according to a United Nations report.

India-US hold trade talks after Trump's latest Twitter attack

BRITISH NAVY INTERVENES TO PROTECT TANKER IN GULF

A Royal Navy ship has intervened to protect a British oil tanker near the Gulf from Iranian boats, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The MoD says HMS Montrose drove off three boats which had approached the British Heritage tanker, and issued verbal warnings.

Tehran denies any attempt to seize the tanker close to the Strait of Hormuz.

Last week British Royal Marines assisted authorities in Gibraltar in seizing an Iranian tanker suspected of breaching EU sanctions.
