Almost 100 killed in Mali village attack

Armed men in Mali have killed around 100 people in an apparent
ethnically-motivated attack on a village in the Mopti region.

Mali's government said "suspected terrorists" attacked the village of
the Dogon ethnic group during the night.

The attackers murdered a third of the village's inhabitants and burned homes.

It's unclear if members of a jihadist group were responsible or
semi-nomadic Fulani herders, who have clashed frequently with Dogon
hunters.

The Associate Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Eri Kaneko, gave
more details about the United Nations' response to the attack.
