CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP RACE OFFICIALLY STARTS

Candidates to replace Theresa May as leader of the Conservative Party and therefore UK Prime Minister have until the end of the day to enter the race. (1600GMT)

The contest has been dominated over the weekend by drug-use revelations from one of the front-runners - Environment Secretary Michael Gove.

Candidates will be whittled down in a series of votes until a final two are put to the Conservative Party membership.

Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is the current favourite.

Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd says she's backing Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, which the Daily Mirror's Oliver Milne believes is significant.
