North Korean state media report Pyongyang is requesting 'corresponding practical action' from Washington.
Seeking sanctions relief, North Korea claims to have destroyed nuclear and missile testing sites last year.
But Washington says it wants more proof Pyongyang is truly willing to give up its nuclear weapons.
North Korea and the U.S. wrapped up talks last Friday ahead of this month's summit between Trump and Kim.
Both sides have been unclear about what they're willing to offer at the second leaders summit.
But it appears they have more work to do to avoid another meeting that yields little more than smiling leaders.

Russia reinstated to Paralympics after doping ban
The International Paralympic Committee has reinstated Russia after a 29-month ban over doping.
The decision means Russian athletes can compete at the next Paralympic Games in Tokyo under their own flag, but it is conditional on Russia meeting certain requirements, including a robust testing programme.

US calls on Russia to allow access to jailed ex-Marine
The United States has called on Russia to allow regular visits to a former US Marine being held on spying charges. Paul Whelan was arrested in December while visiting Moscow. His family has said he was in Russia for a friend's wedding. Lucy Taylor reports.
