German military considering EU-wide recruitment

The German military is considering recruiting EU citizens from other countries to address a shortage of skilled workers.

The news comes amid plans to add more than twenty thousand soldiers over the next six years.

Italian authorities watching Mt Etna after earthquake and eruptions

Experts in Italy are continuing to watch for any activity around Mount Etna after a 4 point 8 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Catania in Sicily.

US judge orders North Korea to pay $500m to parents of Otto Warmbier


A US judge is ordering North Korea to pay $500m in damages to the parents of Otto Warmbier, a student who died after being detained in the country.

There are fears of a new Tsunami in Indonesia - with residents warned to stay away from beaches near the Anak Krakatau volcano.

Indian government criticised for authorising mass surveillance of computers

Days after the Indian government passed an order authorising ten agencies with powers to intercept, monitor, decrypt information from any computer in the country, critics have called this an attempt to create a 'surveillance state'.

Supreme Court Deals Blow to Trump Asylum Plan

The US Supreme Court has dealt a blow to one of the Trump administration's plans to limit asylum. The court's ruling has left in effect a lower court decision that temporarily bars the president from changing the rules for people who claim asylum after entering the country.
