Russian fans hurt in Italian escalator pile-up

At least twenty people have been injured after a broken escalator in a Metro station hurled people downwards before a football match in Rome. Many were Russian CSKA Moscow supporters heading to a Champions League tie. Lucy Taylor reports.

US May Impose Sanctions on Senior Saudis over Khashoggi Murder

President Trump has described the Saudi response to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul as "one of the worst cover-ups in the history of cover-ups". 

But though Trump indicated the US would not be willing to jeopardize ties with the Kingdom,  US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo indicated sanctions would be imposed.

UN warns of growing migrant caravan crisis

The UN Refugee Agency is warning of an urgent humanitarian need for
the thousands of migrants in the caravan making its way to the
Mexico-US border.

More than 7,000 people from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are
journeying towards the United States.

Most of them are fleeing poverty and violence.

Spokesperson for the UN Refugee Agency, Adrian Edwards warned of the
dangers the caravan faces.

US Cyber Command Sends Message to Russian Trolls

The US Cyber Command has reportedly started a campaign to stop  Russian operatives from spreading disinformation to interfere in elections. 

According to a report in the New York Times, it's the first known overseas cyberoperation  whose mission is to protect American elections.

Hurricane Willa approaching Mexico coast, still "extremely dangerous"


Hurricane Willa is making its approach towards Mexico's western coast, and is expected to bring strong winds, rainfall, and a life-threatening storm surge. 


The Category 4 hurricane may have weakened from earlier projections, but remains extremely dangerous, according to the US National Hurricane Center.

UN estimates more than 7,200 migrants in caravan, deploys to Mexico to assist

As thousands of Central Americans advance on a massive trek towards the southern border of the United States, drawing ire from US president Donald Trump, the United Nations has deployed its personnel to the ground. 


UN Secretary General is asking countries to work with UN agencies as they assist migrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala on the move through Mexico.

North and South Korea remove firearms from DMZ
