Sydney bound United Airlines Plane lands safely following Mayday call

A United Airlines plane on a flight from Los Angeles to Sydney has landed at Sydney Airport after the pilot issued a mayday alert.

Key Republican Senators Condemn Trump's Mockery of Kavanaugh Accuser

Three Republican US Senators have condemned President Trump's mockery of one of the women who has accused his Supreme Court nominee Bret Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Pompeo revokes 1955 friendship treaty between US and Iran

New York state tax agency may investigate Trump for tax fraud

The state of New York says it may investigate President Trump and his businesses for tax fraud.


The move comes after The New York Times published an investigative report claiming the Trump family dodged at least 500 million dollars in tax payments in the 1990s.

UN warns death toll after Sulawesi quake likely to rise



The United Nations is warning that large parts of Indonesia worst affected by the recent earthquake and resulting tsunami have still not been reached by rescuers.   However the world body's humanitarian team say they are doing what they can to help provide food, water and shelter to those left homeless after the devastation of the twin disasters.

It comes as relief efforts continue on the island of Sulawesi, where the city of Palu was particularly hard hit.    More than 1400 people are known to have died however there are fears that toll could rise as teams reach more remote areas.

Australia despatching aid to Indon quake zone

More than 50 Australian medical professionals will provide emergency health support to Indonesians grappling with the aftermath of a deadly earthquake and tsunami.

Indian Prime Minister conferred UN's highest environmental award
