Ex-UK Foreign Secretary wants Super Canada Brexit Deal

Former UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson believes the UK should negotiate a Canada style free trade deal with the EU on Brexit and has urged the British Prime Minster to abandon her current plan, known as the Chequers deal.


He even went as far as to call Prime Minster May's strategy a moral and intellectual humiliation.


The UK will leave the European Union on 29th March, but there's been much speculation that a deal between both sides my not be reached in time.

S. Korea hopes to begin railway inspections next month

The South Korean government says it hopes to soon begin inspections of railways and roads that span the inter-Korean border. But concerns have risen that reconnecting the routes could lead to violations of international sanctions against North Korea.

Reconnecting the idle railways and roads is one of the goals from last week's summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.


Seoul and Pyongyang want to begin inspections of the routes next month and reopen them by the end of the year.


The South Korean government says it will first consult with the United Nations Command before doing that.


Last month, the UN command abruptly rejected the same request for inspections. The command said Seoul didn't give proper notification.


But critics of the delayed inspection believe the U.S. is trying to find excuses to keep the project from going ahead until Kim makes more progress on giving up his nuclear weapons.


Backers of inspections believe a train crossing the border would be deeply symbolic for inter-Korean cooperation.

Uber Settles $148 Million Over Data Breach

Seoul: UNC backs inter-Korean military agreement

South Korea says the United Nations Command supports its new military agreement with North Korea. There's been speculation the command believes Seoul and Pyongyang are moving too quickly with efforts to forge peace despite a lack of strong progress toward denuclearization.

The South Korean defense ministry said it's holding close talks with the U.N. command about the new military agreement.


The ministry also said a U.N. command official recently expressed support for the deal.


The U.N. Command, or simply UNC, overseas the South Korean side of the truce area in the demilitarized zone where negotiators meet.


The new military deal signed at the latest inter-Korean summit calls for all weapons to be removed from the truce area. It also dictates that some guard posts along the DMZ are shut down on a trial basis.


This week, the nominee to lead the UNC, U.S. General Robert Abrams, said all demilitarized zone -related activities are under the purview of the command.


And questions have been raised whether it's too soon to draw down border security.


Seoul, however, says the agreement is important to maintaining reconciliation with Pyongyang.

Indian Supreme Court strikes down adultery law

India's highest court has ruled that adultery is no longer a crime in the country, striking down a law that was over 150-years old.

The law punished any man who has an affair with a woman 'without the consent' of her husband, with five years in jail. There was no punishment for the woman, who is seen as the victim and the property of her husband.
